Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy releases deep tension patterns in the body and the Central Nervous System (CNS). With the most gentlest of touch, you can experience a relaxation and a stillness that will remind you again how wonderful you can feel living in your body. In one to a few sessions, clients often say that it is the most peaceful they have felt in years.
Understanding the Basics:
The Craniosacral System is strongly intertwined with your CNS. The Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is created in the brain, circulates there and flows around the spine. It is responsible for nourishing, protecting and releasing waste from the CNS. This fluid is created and then reabsorbed back into the venous system. As it is created, an experienced therapist can feel the rhythm expand, and when it slows down, we can feel the body contract. It feels like a balloon filling with water and then expelling it. This wave of motion can be felt, and inform the therapist how best to support the body’s own healing mechanisms to self-correct. An example might be a restriction of a nerve. If there is a pulling of fascia, and/or a disturbance in the flow of the CSF that does not allow the nerve to do its job, we can help direct the Inner Wisdom of the Body to release by listening and facilitating release. Better motion and fluidity keeps the body working optimally. This can be done from anywhere on the body, but often it involved the sacrum, spine and brain. It’s also important to remember that the Central Nervous System is very important in informing the whole body how to best function.

What Does a Session Look Like?
A client is fully clothed. Preferably in loose comfortable clothing. Ofen during a first session, the therapist will touch the person at different places in order to listen to the quality of the rhythm. This will determine what course the work will take. If a therapist is highly experienced, he or she may ask questions when the rhythm goes off. Sometimes, a therapist will stay quiet throughout the whole session though. Once a trusting relationship is built, clients will often feel more sensations, emotions and physical releases. This is natural.
Feel Better
Craniosacral Therapy helps to free the Central Nervous System to work at its optimal best. As a therapist, it is an incredible experience to help someone to release stress patterns and to integrate, which brings a person back to center with more freedom and ease.
