Recently, I have noticed that the people on my table are very deeply relaxed after a Craniosacral Therapy Session.  Sometimes, they even fall asleep.  When they wake up, they don’t necessarily notice huge changes, but they yawn and walk away as if they had done a day of meditation.  I have even heard them quietly mention on the way out that it’s the most calm they have ever felt after any type of session.  Maybe even in years.

For me, it’s interesting because I used to do very deep fascial layering work called Structural Integration. I loved this type of manual therapy because I WOULD feel deep changes at the end of sessions. I was rarely sore aterwards, but the therapy would often be so uncomfortable. Sometimes it hurt.

After years, I have learned that we don’t have to have our clients leave feeling beat up in order for them to unwind and feel their best. The most gentle & mindful of listening and trusting of the body’s own healing mechanisms is the most simple and profound way to optimal functioning and wellness.

Ater a session, when a person is getting ready to leave, the best compliment is that they don’t feel restrictions and pain any longer. There didn’t need to be any huge catharsis, although it is welcomed if it does happen. Instead, they have totally de-stressed and feel so relaxed in the most pure and self-correcting manner.  It’s in this deep type of meditative stage where the body is in motion, yet totally at ease.
