The Importance of Facing Pain and Suffering in Order to Heal

The Importance of Facing Pain and Suffering in Order to Heal

Facing Your Pain and Suffering

Why Facing Pain and Suffering Is Essential for Healing and Growth

Pain and suffering are part of being human. Yet many people spend years trying to avoid them. We distract ourselves. We push through. We numb. While this can help short-term, avoiding pain often makes it last longer.

Facing pain—physical, emotional, or psychological—is a necessary step toward real healing and long-term well-being.

Pain is Information. Not Failure

The way that our bodies signal that something is off is usually through pain.  It helps us to pay attention.  Physical pain shows us our biological history.  It can point to injuries that have not healed, illness,  nervous system dysregulation,  or burnout.  Emotional pain may be related to old trauma stories left unresolved,  and unmet needs.

Early Attention can help us avoid Chronic Conditions.

Believe it or not, staying positive is not the way to health.  Often people bypass the valuable information that pain speaks.  The sooner you address pain signals-the better off you are.

Avoidance Can Keep You Stuck

Many people ignore or push pain away. In reality, avoidance often leads to:

  • Chronic tension or inflammation

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Repeated patterns in relationships

  • Fatigue and loss of motivation

When pain is suppressed, it doesn’t disappear. It shows up in other ways.

Facing suffering does not mean dwelling on it. It means acknowledging what is present so change can occur.

In my practice in Worthington, Ohio, I often work with people who wait too long to move onto an active healing path.  But I’d like to let you know that staying present and in charge of your wellbeing is an empowering step.  Facing pain and suffering helps you to respond more powerfully on a path of ease.  We have less compensations, and  more simplicity is taking the courageous steps to address what is here.

Take the time to get grounded and take care of your health and wellbeing.

You Are Always Beautiful

You Are Always Beautiful

Learning to Look at Real Beauty with Grace as we Age.

Beauty Comes from Within from the moment we are born until the moment we die.

The mind can be a tricky thing-believing all the marketing, cultural and societal norms, projection from men and even other women shaping and defining beauty. It’s so easy to believe what you have been told rather than to live from the inside out.

Here’s the thing. You can discover your Inner Beauty that shines through every cell of your body every moment. It starts by going inward and connecting to yourself. How do you want to express your authentic self? See your wrinkles for the life they have given you. Touch your softness knowing how many friends and family leaned into you. Then push back all the negative or demanding input that tells you to be something other than your real self. What anyone else says about you is theirs, not yours to carry. Know your value. Know your Power.

Deep Healing Shifts That Unfold Gradually with Craniosacral Therapy in Columbus

Being Real with Sharon

Healing is an Inside Job that expands over time and usually through slow change.

Don’t Rush Healing. It won’t work. Healing Takes Time.

Do you expect immediate healng results?  Welcome to the club. I have seen so many people come into my office and they expect a lot in the first session. Often they have tried so many healing modalities and nothing worked.  Understandably, they are disappointed and they learn to give up rather quickly.

The thing is- healing does work.  The body has it’s own ability to self-correct, and often comes back to equilibrium. The best time to begin a healing process  is when something goes awry-act immediately.  This can mean rest. Going to a physician. Seeing a Craniosacral Therapist, and/or eating healthy.  Whatever is needed to balance the body and move it closer to health and wellbeing.

The longer a person procrastinates, the mind-body-spirit begins to place band-aids on the experience. Compensations begin.  The intricate webbing of life, and the fascia, along with all the other internal systems re-organized in a more sporadic challenging fashion.

With Craniosacral Therapy, the work is so subtle.  Some people may not feel much in the first session.  A reason for this is that the pain or the past experiences keeps the mind from feeling deep into the pain of an old habit and experience.  It takes time for a relationship to develop and for healing to unfold.  Often many sessions.

The gentleness and the listening of the body may be a new experience for someone.  They may need to open to being held and supported. This seems like it should be so easy, but for many people it is not.  So many people live with anxiety for example.  They don’t feel centered, safe, or secure with new sensations and feelings.  What many of us need is to slow down, be heard, to have our bodies supported compassionately and with skill.  This is the key doorway into discovering our own healing abilities.

I like to remind people, often it took time or a severe accident to go into chronic or acute pain or suffering.  It takes time for healing too. Be patient with yourself.  Breathe through it all.  Be kind to you, and be patient with the healing work you choose.  It takes time to shift gears and wind down into healing mode.

I recommend at least 4 sessions just to see how your process shows itself.  Remember too- it doesn’t have to be painful aggressive work that changes you.  Sometimes it’t the opposite of anything you have ever experienced before.

As a Craniosacral Therapist, Somatic Healer and Energy Healer for over 30 years, I can honestly say that there is an easier path.  But it is never always easy to navigate until your surrender into your own intention to heal.  Your commitment is needed to change.  You must allow the greater good to direct your process.  Like I said, “it’s an inside job.”  But not meant to be done in isolation.

How Craniosacral Therapy Helps Your Nervous System heal from Chronic Stress

How Craniosacral Therapy Helps Your Nervous System heal from Chronic Stress

How Craniosacral Therapy helps the Nervous System

Your body has an innate intelligence which knows how to heal.  But when stress is constant,  your ability to function optimally decreases. Craniosacral Therapy can help the body get out of the fight-or-flight response that can occur after a stress overfload.  By encouraging the parasympathetic system to shift louder so to speak, the body can create a space for self-repair.

My clients often report:

  • A noticeable release of jaw or neck and head tension

  • A sense of inner stillness and calm as the nervous system calms down.

  • Improved sleep and digestion

  • Fewer stress-related flare-ups

  • Deep relaxation throughout the whole mind and body.

Why Chronic Stress Needs a gentle approach

Stress is not taking space only in your head, but it affects the whole body as well.  The tissues, the organs and all those miraculous things that keep you alive and well  do better when they come into balance.  Craniosacral Therapy is considerate, welcoming and the techniques are very supportive to good health.  The nervous system has the chance to optimize and create harmony in the whole body.

How To Find Joy by Choosing the Higher Self

Higher Self

What is the Higher Self?

One could describe the higher self as the deeper, timeless essence of who you are — a part of you that exists beyond the layers of ego, personality, and conditioned thought. It’s like the true center of your being, always in harmony with the universe and imbued with wisdom, love, and clarity. To understand it, think of it as the still, quiet voice within that knows and sees beyond your ordinary perceptions.  This is what Google says anyway. And believe it or not, I agree this is a great description!

In today’s world, there is a lot of suffering and pain. It’s part of he human condition.  It passed down along the lineage and through our cultures and religion.  We get so distracted with the stories from the past, it’s hard to imagine a life of compassion, great wisdom and greatness.  But it’s time to start feeling joy.  Right?

In today’s world, many people think it’s up to us alone to deal with our problems.  Be accountable.  Figure it out.  You can do it. Right?  While this is all true, along the journey of life, sometimes we do need help from others, and also from that place inside of us that transcends time and space.  Inside of us is the whole universe, and when we align with the Higher Self, it will open us up and awaken all the possibilities.  If you are looking for clarity, the Higher Self is the best place to inquire.

There is a good book I recommend by Susan Thesanga called, “The Undefended Self“.  I read this years ago.  And what she says in that book is powerful knowledge even today.

Sometimes, we need to cut through all the patterns of the past and commit to the Higher Path.  Even though it’s hard to let go of the past at times,  beginning to look inward for these wisdom resources will change everything for you.  Begin with mindfulness and prayer.  Listen to the responses that life brings back.  Open up this communication to the Higher Self, and the “old” will dissolve and thee “new” can begin.  Embrace the change and find your Inner Warrior.   Be courageous.  Be strong.  But there is you in making this choice, and there are your allies too.  Remember:). Jump into your Best Timeline.
