Right now in the world, there is so much chaos and a push to divide. The first. class taught me the foundational 10 step protocol and was the first of many classes on a life long journey. I won’t lie, and tell you that it was easy. Not many schools teach the work of Craniosacral Therapy, nor have many people ever heard of it unless they are “in the know”.  There is a lot to learn and you have to enjoy learning the extensive anatomy of the body to become highly effective and specific in the CST work.  Yet when you fall in love and feel passionate about something, you step into it and immerse. At least I do anyway.

Over many years, I have continued to study this work. It is an ongoing exploration. The human body is our sacred vessel in which we live, and there is great wonder in dialoguing with each person, and what lives within. While its foundation is clear, there are many ways to weave in and out of the human body with intuition, expertise and understanding. With an open mind and healthy techniques, we can delve deep into the Inner Wisdom to unlock many healing capabilities.

In any case, when I looked at Craniosacral Schools, I simply decided that the Upledger Institute was the best around.  Dr. John Upledger had a wonderful reputation as being magically skillful, but also made the work available in a way that many people could learn and help others. Speaking to Neurodivergence

Living with a neurodivergent mind can come with a range of emotions and challenges. As each individual is unique, this can show up in many ways. When I speak of neurodivergence, I am referring to those of us who cognitively process information differently than neurotypical thinkers.  This can include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Unique social communication challenges, sensory sensitivities, and repetitive behaviors.  I recommend the Telepathy Tapes to learn more about this.
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Features of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
  • Dyslexia: Difficulty with language skills, especially reading.
  • Dyscalculia: Difficulty with performing basic arithmetic.
  • Dyspraxia: Issues related to physical coordination.
  • Tourette’s Syndrome: Involuntary, repetitive movements and vocalizations.
  • Down’s Syndrome: Genetic disorder causing developmental and intellectual delays.

Stress, in particular, among neurodivert people may play a big part in keeping neurodivergent thinkers feeling isolated and alone. Our feelings, emotions,  and expressions can easily be misunderstood or misinterpreted. However, as we learn to understand our raw and vulnerable selves better, and also as more people learn to understand and accept people who seem different, for the whole, it allows for more diversity and creativity. We each have our gifts as well.  Neurodivergent thinkers can actually be super creative out of the box thinkers, and help come up with innovate ideas to help resolve problems.

Common issues with Emotions with Neurodivergence:

Social Anxiety

I know that sometimes just being in the same space as other people alerts the nervous system into hypersensitivity. A neurodivergent person could end up feeling sensory overload when they detect conflict or too much energy around them. Maybe it is pressure to perform or to look like everyone else.  Maybe coming up with words to communicate is hard.  In this case,  the healing response might be to ground or to limit overstimulation so that we can feel safe in our emotions.

Time Management

It may be difficult to keep focused or on schedule. People may become impatient or uncomfortable if they don’t understand or feel at ease with the boundaries and patterns  which are unfamiliar.  Especially with procrastination. It’s easy for people to think we are lazy or that we don’t want to partipate, or do the work. For healing, it’s important to realize that everyone is organized differently and healthy processing time for some may be to do nothing until ready to make the next move.

    Self Blame

    It’s easy to blame oneself when others who are neurotypical don’t understand why we don’t have the same social cues or regulation. Many neurodivergent people might believe they are the problem, when actually they are not. They are just different. It’s vital they they are reflected back as valuable in their authenticity and contributions.  They should not have to “mask” in order to be accepted or valued.  Once we all see the light in each other, the more the Whole can evolve.

      Emotional Woundings

      Neurodivergent individuals can feel emotionally chaotic at time. Their experiences may feel more hightened, and they don’t know the best way to respond.  It’s important that they find supportive people to help them to understand.  In today’s world, sometime emotions get a bad wrap.  I’d suggest that many neurodivergent thinkers are actually more emotionally mature if they decide to work through what comes up for them.  They have to work and move through so much more.  It’s an art and a skill to relate when it doesn’t come easily.

        Physically

         

        They may need more rest and down time to integrate with introspection.

         

        Unique Communication Styles

        While neurodivergent people may not always communicate in ways that others expect, their style can bring fresh insights or directness. For example, individuals on the autism spectrum might be incredibly honest and straightforward, offering clarity in situations where others might shy away from being so direct.

         

        Being good at understanding and managing emotions can be a challenge for neurotypical thinkers. However, with healthy support, they can learn how to deal with life and make better decisions based on their unique perspectives in life.  Being mindful, as we learn to stay more in the moment, and get to know ourselves, moving from stress to emotional intelligence moves us and humanity forward.   We are all in this thing called humanity together.

        Being Real over Spiritual Bypassing. I have been in the world of spiritual healing for close to 30 years.  What I truly love about building my relationship with the Divine is the openness between me and all that is greater than the singular Self.  Also, I enjoy the flexibility of changing, and growing in my relationships to everything instead of being fixed in one limited belief system.  It also provides the basis for freedom to be who and what I am meant to be. I don’t depend on other people’s interpretation of God, but rather develop my own spiritual relationships moment to moment.  This is super meaningful to me.  Maybe it would be for you as well.

        Sometimes though, this can be messy.  I am a Pisces. Deeply emotional, compassionate, empathetic and sensitive. I am wonderful until I get pushed too far! One thing I have recognized is that many people don’t tend to have a large capacity to hold speace for messy feelings.  Yet lots of people need this. I do. I have had lots of practice.

        Really, I know how important emotions are in leading us on our life path to feel and contribute in a world where this stream of consciousness is often put on the shelf.  Feelings are part of being human. Feelings help us feel alive and spark joy as well as passion. This includes fears, angers, hates and rage. All is included. I believe if we could all find healthy ways to feel the wide berth of feelings that live inside of us, everyone would be a lot healthier.  We would treat ourselves and each other much better.

        Some people are not very self aware about feelings and emotions. They were never taught it was OK to experience all the feelings. Actually, I doubt many of us were given 100% approval when we played out tantrums or yelled at the top of our lungs as children.  However, as we grow up, its very important for us to not bypass our emotional selves. It’s like cutting off part of our life force.  t’s also destructive in how we treat each other at times. This often is reflected in how we project on to others instead of using self reflection.

        One place that I have noticed this comes up is often in spiritual communities.  A phrase, called “spiritual bypassing” is widely accepted to help us understand. Especially for many young people now this practice is growing.  There is so much emphasis on expansion into the spiritual instead of self-discovery to be real.  It’s being passed down through many “guru” type of teachers.

        In any case, what spiritual bypassing means is the tendency to use spiritual (it can be religious also) practices or beliefs to avoid dealing with personal issues or truths.  This can happen often when someone feels overwhelmed or something arises within that is painful.

        While feelings can feel unbearable at times, it is important not to sequester those feelings permanently. You don’t always have to be nice, postitive or choosing the illusion of being perfect. None of us can be that all of the time. It’s a setup for disaster.

        Spiritual bypassing can also happen when one wants to control their environment.  By clinging to the “pretend shadow” that everything is OK when it is not, it helps one to avoid their real self. A person who does this might believe they are transcending, but instead it is a real avoidance tactic. It also is usually set up in blaming others so that superiority reigns.  It’s not real though.

        The shadow, the unconsicous part of us though longs for healing.In order to do this, we must be mindful and introspective about who and what we are in the moment.  To live in two realities:one in the ideal, and the other in what is truly happening is a deep split. It is not enlightenment to be reasonable all the time and to not feel.

        I bring this up because if you are looking for someone to lean into during your healing process, find someone who is authentically real and grounded in this world. We are human. We are here to live a human experience. Living up in the ethers is fun ane expansive, but not the total of who we are or where we are meant to live.

        Nothing is more real than being “you” with awareness.  Don’t fall for spiritual bypassing as being “The Truth”.  Energy Healers can be like this quite a bit.  So if you are looking for someone to help you navigate, find one who is firmly here, able to touch into their own life force physically, emotionally, to own their own belief systems and to be flexible with them,  connected with their hearts and their spiritual selves too. We are whole.  You are whole.  We are just waiting to remember this through our awakening process.

        Remember this my friends.  I have witnessed too many people led astray by spiritual bypassing. Energy Work can feel great, but it is not integrated unless your energy healer is.   Nothing is more fulfilling than being yourself and being real.
