Craniosacral Therapy Dolphin Assisted Retreat

Craniosacral Therapy Dolphin Assisted Retreat

I cut and pasted this Craniosacral Dolphin Therapy information off of the Upledger site.  I have participated in the Beginner and Advanced Training with the Dolphins and can say that they are exceptional programs. Something to be put on the life bucket list for sure!  I am new to the Columbus area, and would be thrilled to work with clients who are interested in Craniosacral Therapy, and support their transition to the program in the Bahamas.  Maybe even jump on a plane to go assist!

Interspecies Learning

DATIP July 25-28, 2013 Freeport, Bahamas  (New Dates for 2016 now available)

This four-day Comprehensive Therapy Program includes dolphins and their incredible ability to assist healing. We consistently find the dolphins to be active participants in the therapeutic process. This is combined with traditional CranioSacral Therapy (CST) in the beautiful and supportive environment of the Bahamas.

In the Integrative Intentions Dolphin Assisted Therapy program, we trust and facilitate the inclusion of our natural environment in the healing process. CST therapy is our primary modality and relies upon the innate healing capacities of our own nature. Dolphins offer their assistance in the healing process. We intend to facilitate, with their assistance, to bring holistic dimensions into your therapy. Dolphins frequently offer us their unique ability to facilitate healing. We will be respectfully asking them to participate and assist in your healing process. This brings some unique holistic dimensions into this work.

We have found that the uniqueness of each individual exchange with dolphins brings a very individualized, specific and universal dynamic to the process. Regardless of what you have read or been told by others and the images you might have, we invite you to come and experience for yourself.

Advance Preparation: Recommended Reading: Dolphins and Their Power to Heal. We also have some valuable information for you regarding your BioAquatic Exploration experience, available at https://www.upledger.com/seminar_info/Terms/BADAinfo.doc

– Light sweater or fleece top
– Clothing for layering, including a long-sleeve shirt that you don’t mind getting wet
– Waterproof bag for items that must remain dry
– Ear plugs – (if you choose to wear ear plugs while in the water)

Optional items:
– Snacks

– Zinc Oxide
– Wetsuit (advised for those who may be concerned about their body temperature, infants and small children. The water temperature will probably be in the high 70’s to 80’s.) The shop at UNEXSO sells suits of various sizes and thicknesses to fit most people, however, there is less available for little ones.)

Attire: Please wear a bathing suit appropriate for therapy, under your clothes, bring a towel and clothes to change into later.

Staff members will answer any questions or concerns participants may have and review a brief outline of the day’s schedule. We usually have a short time for table work after which the group will then walk a short distance to UNEXSO where we need to sign in and await the boat or bus which we will board and ride to the Dolphin Experience. Once we arrive at Sanctuary Bay, the location of the DAT portion of the CTP, we disembark and walk on a boardwalk which takes us up a ramp to the waiting area, then down a steep ramp to the dolphin area. We are at this location for approximately one hour.

After the Dolphin Experience, you will take a break for lunch. You may either return to your hotel, or explore The Lucayan Marketplace for lunch or shopping (across the street from The Radisson Hotel and the Reef Hotels and next to Pelican Bay). Find a Structural Integration Therapist in Columbus

Looking to find a Massage Therapist for Structural Integration (SI) in Columbus, Ohio?

You have come to the right place.  Sharon Hartnett LMT has over 17+ years doing Structural Integration Therapy.  In the late 1990’s she found a local Rolfer in Mclean, Virginia who introduced her to the 10 series.  She fell in love with the positive postural changes and increased movement in her body that she decided to study Structural Integration herself.  She has been providing SI sessions with clients ever since.

Sharon Hartnett, Structural Integration

Relieve Chronic Pain and Find Better Posture

Learn how  Structural Integration Developed

Dr. Ida P. Rolf, a pioneering biochemist began to develop Rolfing in the 1930s after suffering from spinal arthritis. The direction of her work was focused on the role of fascia and unwinding tension patterns around muscles and joints in order to release pain and discomfort. While working in the 1960’s teaching her fascial work at the Esalen Institute in California, the term “Rolfing” was coined.   Her original thinking and experience of manipulating the connective tissue brought students from around the world.  She taught these practitioners how to support the body to function efficiently so that the force of gravity could flow through and support both the form and functioning.   Soon later, the Rolf Institute was found.  And as with most great work, different schools have branched out, extending the original work with same intention and yet with individualize perspectives.

Why Structural Integration Therapy?

Structural Integration is a system of bodywork that will encourage the body back into alignment and structural integrity.  Clients walk away feeling more freedom in their movement, a sense of lightness, greater flexibility, relief from chronic pain and more energized.  The Structural Integration model views the person as a whole that is self-regulation and self-organizing.  Between sessions, clients are given exercises to help them continue their work out into the world.  the body knows where it needs to go in order to find maximum motion.  It just needs to be re-edcuated how to do that so it can relate more optimally in fluidity.  After 10 sessions, clients take time to allow the work to continue and integrate with better posture.

Is Structural Integration Uncomfortable?

When you go to visit any type of bodyworker and therapist, it is a good idea to communicate your needs right from the start.  The therapist has tools and experience working with clients, but ultimately the client benefits the most by expressing what his/her level of  tolerance to pressure.  Each person is unique in how they like to be touched.  What Sharon does is ask,  “If you can feel the sensations and feelings that arise during the session without having to tighten or react, than allow yourself to do that.  However, if anything hurts or feels like it is too deep, please say “stop” or “lighten up”.  The client’s wishes are always respected.  With this said, often the fascia has historically tightened up in areas of the body around dysfunctional patterns.  There are time when that tissue is lengthened it will be uncomfortable.  Most clients though are so happy with the results and reconnection to their body’s that they return over and over with relief and commitment to themselves.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy in Columbus

Peppermint in its Essential oil form has many medicinal properties along with its great flavor.  When used during an aromatherapy Craniosacral Session, the peppermint oil can be both energizing and soothing.  It is an excellent digestive, acts as an anti-inflammatory, aids in respiration and circulation. When applied with a base oil, at first the sensation may be close to that of the candy, with a crisp awakening touch.  However, as the oils are absorbed, circulation increases and a general sense of overall warmth takes its place. This makes peppermint a good oil to use for headaches, toothaches, fatigue and bad breath. It’s also a wonderful scent that brings about a lively alertness to life.

Benefits of Peppermint

When going in for a Craniosacral Therapy Session, ask for a few drops of Peppermint to freshen up your mood and day!

Do People with Autism Benefit from Craniosacral Therapy?

How Does Craniosacral Therapy help those with Autism?

When I work with clients,  I am totally aware of the shifts and changes that take place during the Craniosacral Therapy session. The tissues under my hands are alive and speaking to me through the movements and rhythms. Often clients quickly move from a stressful state into such deep relaxation after applying a still point that I hear light snoring in a matter of minutes. It brings me pleasure to help people find their inner peace through the manual work of Craniosacral therapy and other treatments that I share.

But- there is more than deep relaxation that happens during a Craniosacral Therapy Session. Craniosacral Therapists who are trained at the Advanced level learn to encourage the body into “still point” which can provide a very positive effect on the Central Nervous System.

What is a still point?

It is a temporary pause in the cerebral spinal fluid circulation through your brain and spinal cord. Inducing a still point will eventually flush out the system as the fluid rushes back in to nourish. The still point can help children and adults with autism to relax deeply so that they can receive the other Craniosacral techniques.  It’s very quieting and fulfilling.

If you are interested in finding out more about how Craniolsacral can help with autism, check out the following link from the Upledger Institute,  Dr. Upledger

Parents of children with autism often report that their children with occasional treatment, are able to have better eye contact and able to release stress easier.
