Aligning Your Life with the Truth of Your Body

Aligning Your Life with the Truth of Your Body

The Truth of  Your Body

Believe in the Truth of Your Body.  It’s honest. It’s integrity. It is what is real in the moment. What I mean by this is that the physical is not making up perceptions. It is what it is. An expression of your human physical state of being.  It lives and does its’ thing!

The mind is what perceives and creates stories. Your thoughts, experiences and learned beliefs influence the body. But the body is not the thinker. Rather, it is living physical relationships dancing cheek to cheek inside of you on a physiological level.

From one perspective, this includes individual parts. The human body can be seen as cells & their parts, tissues, organs and systems. They are all separate, yet the truth of your body which also exists is experienced as a “Whole” dynamic creative expression. The body exists in partnership through fluids and connective tissue as ONE Living Experience. It shapes based on mind and from Source itself.

When a professional and experienced manual therapist works with you, they are listening to your body primarily and also your story (if this is their practice focus)  if they are to be precise and accurate in discovering and supporting the health of any physical tension areas.  While a person may come in and say,  “this hurts”, the therapist listens verbally but also stays curious primarily by where the body directs us.  By placing our hands on the body, we allow the body to lead us to the pattern that is most significant in the encounter.  This is where we work rather than on the place that hurts. Generally, the pain spot is what speaks from a mind perspective.  It could feel like the weakest link. However,  the truth of the body is more accurate in its’ objective communication.

I know that sometimes people do have stories and issues where they need to be heard, and understood. This IS valuable information on a different level.  Often this is key in healing too.  This can be addressed in Somato Experiencing type of work.  It needs to be mirrored and given equal measure.  Yet if we truly want to address the physical piece, we need to understand that it’s vital to address the truth of the body to remedy what ails you.

When you trust the signals of the body, it is easy to move and meet the current concern.  Feeling the pull towards that area is easy with practice.  Dr. Barral says, “The body hugs the lesion”.  I find this to be very true in my work as well.

What differentiates a talented manual bodyworker is the ability to listen on different levels.  We have to stay open minded and learn our anatomy.  If you want better alignment in the body,  find a therapist who listens to the truth of your body.

Focus on Your Potential: Live More Fully

Focus on Your Potential: Live More Fully

Healing is All about the Potential

Experience Potential from A Craniosacral Therapist Perspective.

Our bodies are individual physical containers.  They are also miraculous living skins with dynamic occurences happening inside of us all the time.

What we are made out of is beyond comprehension really. When we look at the human body, quite often we look from an antiquated view, believing that we are a body of individual parts. In fact, we are living organisms where everything is interconnected and alive with the processes of life. All of our cells, tissues and organs and fluids are inter-dependent for our well being.

Sometimes people come into a Craniosacral Session wanting to know why something happened, or explain their histories, hoping to find the answer. The problem is that the answer is not something we “know” or else it would be done. Because we would all naturally want to be healthy. Right?

Instead the whole is really not completely understood. In fact it is changing from moment to moment. The “parts” are shifting and the container is too. There is a certain mystery which plays its part within all of us. When we can mindfully touch into our core potential though, all kinds of miracles can happen. Everything is touched and changed in an instant.

This potential for healing is found by mutually waking up to awareness.  The sense of “I” and the Unknown make acquaintence and swim through the currents together until they reach shore. This really isn’t something we can make happen.  It’s instead a question of all the possibilities in life.  Life brings you back into Wholeness.

I have found, that when people come to see me in a vulnerable position, they are often willing to open up to their Inner Potential to see what else is avialable. An open mind is a great place to live in.  This Potential can be physical, emotional, a belief system, heart connection, or spiritual.

As systems meld and blend, they come together in mutual satisfaction and unity.  When inner resources find each other, something wakes up deep inside. The little nudge can initiate great change in a person’s inner environment. One of my main hopes in life is that we all self-realize that we are meant to come together on so many levels of living.

This may sound abstract, maybe it is. But from what I have witnessed, healing comes from two places really:

1.  Grace

2. The ability to enfold into the dynamic change potential of who we are. The more we discover our authentic self through curiosity, witnessing and our experience, the more empowered and wise become.  Throw in a little compassion, and the path becomes more clear, and more easy.

I have also noticed that when we begin to listen.  Truly listen to the early signs, the easier it is to move through our challenges.

The question of “Why” Doesn’t really move us anywhere. Instead, when we fall down in life, dive  it’s helpful to dive into our own potential. You may need others to help you.  Most likely you will at times, but the “light” , whatever you need on a soul level, is right there, a living potential.  Waiting.  Reconnection is so vital.

Experiencing The Power of the Witness in Craniosacral

Experiencing The Power of the Witness in Craniosacral

Witness

One of my teachers from the Upledger Institute Posted something about Witnessing, written by Dr. John Upledger. It made me take some time to reflect on the how powerful this Craniosacral Therapy is simply by offering each person on the table a witness. When we stay by the side of our clients, we bring our presence, our listening, and a person who can witness what may have been hidden in the dark for so long.

The body holds cellular memory, and when the Craniosacral System is touched, it realizes when it is being held in a sacred space with care.  It understands that it is being understood in a fresh perspective.  The body responds, and so do emotions and beliefs that arise as a result.

How many secrets need to come to light? And what would it feel like to trust someone who can touch us in a way that we can express all that has been hidden?

Craniosacral Therapists do this by staying neutral.

Trusting the Wisdom Within With Craniosacral

Trusting the Wisdom Within With Craniosacral

One of the greatest things about Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is that this modality is all about trusting your own body’s wisdom to heal.

Yes it is important to find a Craniosacral Therapist who is knowledgeable and has good experience with your issues.  However- the best session will be all about having faith in the process.

During a Craniosacral Session,  the first thing your practitioner will do is listen to your body to find out where there might be dysfunctional patterns that lead to pain and other ailments.  This is done by starting at the feet and moving up to the head in order to check for amplitude, symmetry and other qualities of the craniosacral rhythm throughout the body.  Once the primary lesion is discovered, it is easy to go to that area and start the session for healing.  The rest is about following the body’s response to the work.

During evaluation and thereafter, Craniosacral Therapy touch is gentle and non-invasive. There are very few contra-indications with CST, yet the effects are far reaching and profound in your healing process.  The primary benefits that you will first feel are relief of pain, more flexibility and often more vitality.  By working primarily with the Central Nervous System as the focus, a Craniosacral Therapist can dialogue with every other body system to support the integration of full body functioning.  Often clients are unexpectingly surprised that there can be so much change in attitude, feeling and sensation after just a few session.
